Furnace exhaust fan not working.
If power is getting to the blower motor but the motor does not run the motor may be burned out.
Take these three steps as soon as you realize that your furnace isn t working.
If you have a high efficiency ecm motor then you might have a motor module going out.
This sounds like your motor might be over heating.
If the blower motor is burned out replace it.
One of the most common problems with furnace fans is a bad blower relay.
If set too low you may be cold but your furnace thinks.
If the blower fan on your furnace does not start then the furnace burners should burn for a short while until the furnace s limit cuts the burners off to keep the furnace from over heating.
This sounds like you might have a control board going out.
If you notice unusual sounds coming from your exhaust fan we recommend performing these steps to troubleshoot the issue.
You might need a new motor module on ecm motors.
If the blower fan is unobstructed but does not spin freely replace the blower motor.
If there is a battery check if it is working properly.
If no voltage is recorded you will have to replace the board or the relay.
Check to see if thermostat is set appropriately.
The first thing to do is check the relay or voltage from the board.
I would suggest that you check all connections on the furnace to make sure they are good and tight.
If the blower motor hums check the blower fan to ensure that it spins freely.
If your oil burner doesn t work at all check to see if it is receiving electrical power if the thermostat is broken or turned off or if a flame sensor in the burner or heat sensor in the stack has signaled the unit to shut off.
Inspect the fan while your furnace is powered on take a look at how your fan is running to see if you can pinpoint.
First make sure that power is getting to the motor.
If it has reset and allow time for a normal heating cycle.
Check your furnace blower fan after ruling out all of the simple problems above the most likely cause of a furnace not blowing air is a problem with the blower fan itself which if you remember is the fan that circulates your house s air over the heated coils.
This is another common reason behind faulty blower fans.
I would like to suggest that you make sure if your motor has a capacitor that the capacitor is good and up to specs.
