All garage door openers use a sensor light to prevent the door from closing when an object is in its path. The garage door sensor yellow light and the green light together create a solid illumination. Sometimes the sensor becomes faulty and needs to be replaced. For the door to close correctly without reversing the safety sensors need to be aligned perfectly and there should be nothing in the way of the light beam.

Sensors are a critical safety feature but can prevent an automatic garage door from working properly. Disabling the sensor light on a craftsman garage door opener is only temporary and will render the remote controls useless until you reconnect the sensors. If you see that the sender sensor is not yellow and the receiver sensor is not green then this means that your sensors are probably off. Check the sensors leds.

Inspect each sensor to make sure the green or red power indicator lights are illuminated. Each of the sensors mounted on the garage door has a led light located at the outer side. In this case check the alignment of the opener or better involve a technician.

However if the door goes back to the open position then the sensors are working as they should. Garage door sensors prevent the garage door from closing if there s something in the way. If one or both of the lights are off check the fuses breakers and plugs for problems. Sometimes the sensor may be beyond repair due to wear and tear and in such a case your best bet is to replace the garage door sensor with a new one.

Raise the garage door using the control button on the garage wall or the remote control unit from a vehicle. If your sensors or garage door motor is blinking or your door doesn t close it s a sign you could have faulty sensors. Check the mechanism s source and sensor leds.
